I’m Linda Strachan and I write for all ages, from tiny tots to teens and everything in-between.
Picture books are so much fun to read with children. I love the way an illustrator’s images will add yet another dimension to the stories I write, and to see a child find new things in the pictures while they are listening to the story being read to them.
What Colour is Love? was my first picture book for very young children. It is the story of a little elephant who asks his mother what colour love might be.
I live in Scotland and my latest series of picture books is about a very Scottish character Hamish McHaggis.
In the Highlands of Scotland there’s a secret glen
Hidden away from the eyes of men
It’s a cosy place called Coorie Doon
That can only be seen by the light of the moon
But if you’re very quiet and don’t start to blether
You might find Hamish McHaggis asleep in the heather
Hamish is a cuddly haggis who has adventures with his friends
Angus a cheeky pine marten,
Jeannie a rather dippy osprey,
and Rupert an English hedgehog.
