Jane Clarke

Thanks for clicking on my PictureBookDen page.

I’m passionate about picture books. My stories have been matched with some wonderful illustrators. The best moment is seeing the pictures for the first time. I hope someone somewhere is treasuring a crumpled copy of one of my picture books the way that I treasure the books I read to my sons when they were small. Now I'm a proud grandma of two baby granddaughters,
it's a huge joy and privilege to read picture books to them.

My latest picture book (to be published August 2015) is

Other picture books include the award winning Gilbert the Great, Gilbert in Deep and Gilbert the Hero, all brilliantly illustrated by Charles Fuge, too.

Then there's Stuck in the Mud, illustrated by Garry Parsons

and Knight Time and Knight School, illustrated by Jane Massey. You may have heard them being read on CBeebies.

You'll find other picture books of mine on my website www.jane-clarke.co.uk

New for 2015 I have a new series of toddler board books, illustrated by Georgie Birkett

As well as picture books, I also write early reader books and reading scheme stories

and I ghost write for several series including Dinosaur Cove, which I enjoyed writing a lot as my hobby is fossil collecting.

I'm currently working on several picture book texts ( I write at least 4 for every one that gets published) and my new Dr KittyCat series, the first 2 were published in February 2015 and there are more on the way.

Which explains why these days I can sometimes be found in a bookshop dressed up as a furry first aid cat...

You'll also find lots of  my poems published in many children’s anthologies.

It's great fun being a full time children’s writer and I love to visit nurseries, infant and primary schools to share my books and talk about being an author and to run poetry and/or creative writing workshops for children.
